Travel Tips & Tricks

Are you planning a trip to Hawaii? For decades, Hawaii has been a premier vacation destination for millions of people all over the world. Whether you want to relax in the sand, surf the world-famous waves or explore nature's beauty in the tropical forests on one of hundreds of hiking trails, Hawaii has a little something for everyone. Here is a quick checklist to help you plan your next trip:

1. Airfare

Hawaii is an archipelago of eight major islands so before you book a flight, it is important to determine which island you want to stay on. The most populated island is Oahu, which is where the international airport is located and where most flights from the mainland U.S. and other countries land before making connections to the other main islands of Hawaii, Kauai and Maui. Typically, inter-island flight connections are only available through small regional carriers, so you may have to book your travel with more than one airline.

2. Accommodations

Hawaii is home to countless world-class hotels and resorts. There are also other types of accommodations available, such as bed and breakfast establishments, condominiums, time shares and beach-house rentals. Depending on the number of people in your party, you may be able to save money by renting a house.

3. Transportation

Though the islands may seem small when you look at them on a map, most of the attractions, hiking trails and beaches on the Hawaiian Islands are spread out from one another, which is why it is recommended to rent a car during your stay in Hawaii. You can often find a discount car rental for an affordable price with a little bit of Internet research a few months before your trip. Make the most of you time in Hawaii and ask the discount car rental agency about specials on convertibles or Jeeps. Many people say this is the best way to see the island.
